Director of Intern Programs
Amiel comes to us from Heartland Alliance Health. At HAH, she worked as a Senior Medical Case Manager for the Early Intervention Program, was the leader of the Trans Care Quality Improvement Committee, and a member of the HIV Quality Improvement Committee. In these roles, she was an advocate for clients impacted by homelessness, HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance use disorders, and other chronic health conditions. Amiel earned her Master of Public Health degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health in 2016. While completing her MPH in the department of Community Health Sciences, her primary focus was community health interventions for marginalized populations. Amiel was introduced to Above and Beyond through Counseling First’s ChiPRC, a Chicago-based peer recovery coaching pilot program. This year she began working as the Program Director for ChiPRC, which aims to reduce and prevent violence in a sustainable, community-based framework of peer-to-peer support. Amiel will continue her work in community health as our Director of Intern Programs. She joins us with a wealth of knowledge in direct service needs for clients in recovery, as well as the academic rigor required of interns in their practicum programs and will provide an enriching experience for interns and clients alike.
